Motel is an upcoming retro horror game designed in Unity for PC.
Level Designer
- Designed and built the environment in Unity.
- Designed a basic blockout of the level prior to asset implementation.
Game Designer
- Desiging multiple puzzles throught the game.
- Created a narrative the player follows throughout the game.
- Created the basic gameplay loop of completing puzzles while avoiding an AI.
- Wrote character notes found throughout Motel.
Programmer
- Implemented the basic AI targetting system using Emerald AI.
Motel is a retro horror game where players are forced into a small parking lot and must complete various puzzles to unlock new rooms in the motel while avoiding a deadly AI creature.
As a big fan of horror, I have experienced a lot of horror games and some of these such as Alien: Isolation (2014) or Silent Hill 2 (2001) have inspired me in conceptualising and building this game. For example, the AI creature was inspired by the Alien and the the retro graphics and thick fog are somewhat resembling of Silent Hill's approach to graphics. I believe older games can sometimes be a good foundation for newer games, old concepts can still work in newer games.
